About Justin Hanson
Justin has developed his unique skillset over his 22 years in law enforcement and the military, including numerous deployments both locally and abroad to countries such as Bosnia and Afghanistan. Thousands of soldiers, military police, and other law enforcement officials have received his training. Hanson assisted at the 2010 Winter Olympics serving as a CBRN Coordinator and Counter Terrorism Liaison Officer. Justin is an instructor who cares about what he passes on and how he goes about it. He is passionate about training and empowering the next generation of protectors. He does this through his company SpecVIP as a world class security training academy. 

From managing international operations to instructing some of the world’s top agents in the art of dignitary protection, Justin has accomplished a great deal in the field of executive protection. He has a strong desire to impart his vast expertise to both industry professionals and average citizens. Through his present position as CEO of SpecVIP safety Group Inc., he conducts seminars on the essentials of personal safety, including self-defence and itinerary planning.

Active Shooter Event

While cleaning up from his child’s second birthday celebration, Justin and his family and neighbours encountered an active shooter across the lake that borders his house.
Fortunately for the people in the area, there couldn’t have been a better man on scene then Hanson. Having worked in personal security for twenty years+ years, he instructed the guests to conceal themselves, assisted the police in maintaining control of the situation, and provided first aid to the injured.

It made sense that Justin’s neighbours were still anxious about the experience, but it didn’t sit well with him. In order to keep people updated about safety and security in the region, Justin created the Edmonton Safe & Secure Project, a collection of Facebook groups for communities throughout the city.

There is not much that Justin hasn’t done or seen in his career. His presence in the Canadian Armed Forces has been paramount in maintaining the high standards in the teams he has operated with
