COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
On the Website, you can access information about our goals and programs, download materials, view how many other people are taking “action,” sign petitions, participate in sweepstakes and contests, submit survey responses, register and apply for events, make donations and enjoy other interactive services.
Our Website may also allow you to log in using sign-in services such as Facebook Connect, Twitter, or Google+ (the “Sign-In Services”). These Sign-In-Services will authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain personal information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate forms such as sign-up forms and petitions. The Sign-In Services give you the option to post information about your activities on the Website to your profile page to share with others within your network. The privacy policies of the third-party providing such social plug-in(s) and/or authentication will govern that third-party’s use of information gathered by it from your interaction with that service and its website.
We also may acquire personally-identifiable information from other sources such as offline records, publicly available information, or from third parties.
You may request to review, update, correct or delete the personal information that we have collected about you by sending your request, including the Website to which your request pertains (if applicable), to email@example.com or to: Level 15, 2 Corporate Court, Bundall, 4217 QLD Australia. Please note that if you request the deletion of your personal information, we may retain an archived copy of your records as required by law or to enforce our rights.
USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We use your personal information to operate and improve the Website and services, provide information you have requested or that we think would interest you, manage event registrations, administer surveys and petitions, process donations and payments, provide customer support, respond to your communications and requests, communicate with you about your transactions with the Website and us, and provide technical information about the Website and services. Such use may include the display of customised content based upon the information we have collected (for example, special information for users living in a particular region or state).
Panoptic Solutions or its authorised agents may also use your personal information to contact you by e-mail, phone, or mail.
Without limitation, we may share your personal information with the following affiliated persons and entities:
- Affiliated Third Parties – For example, licensed affiliates and affiliated campaigns that share our mission and privacy concerns. Because our licensed affiliates are located in various foreign countries, your personal information may be transmitted, stored and used in other countries when shared with such affiliates. Foreign privacy laws might apply.
- Third-party Service Providers – For example, our database administrators, credit card processing services, and vendors and organizations we engage to help us provide services or facilitate large distributions of messages.
- Campaign Partners – Certain promotions and events may offer you the opportunity to consent to the sharing of your information with our partners, such as promotion and event co-sponsors and prize providers.
By using the Website and otherwise submitting your information to us, you authorise us to contact you as described above. If you wish to unsubscribe from an e-mail list, you can let us know by following the “unsubscribe” instructions that are included in each promotional email. To opt out of other communications, please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org or to: Level 15, 2 Corporate Court, Bundall, 4217 QLD Australia. Please note that such requests may take up to ten (10) days to become effective, and you may not opt out of receiving communications regarding your transactions with the Website or technical information about the Website and services.
Personal information collected by Panoptic Solutions may be stored and processed in Australia or any other country in which we or our affiliates, subsidiaries or service providers maintain facilities, which may include countries that do not require the same level of protection for personal information as the one in which you reside. For example, if you use the Website to submit information directed to one of our licensed affiliates that is located outside of Australia, your information will be transmitted to the country in which the licensed affiliate is located. By using the Website, you expressly consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.
We also may share the personal information you’ve given us as follows:
- to respond to your requests for customer service or other information or services
- to comply with applicable laws, cooperate with law enforcement, government requests, subpoenas, court orders or legal process
- to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims
- to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required or permitted by law
- in the event of any re-organisation, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or disposition of all or any portion of our business or operations (including without limitation in connection with bankruptcy or any similar proceedings)
- certain information provided in connection with petitions and surveys (see below).
PETITIONS AND SURVEYS
For petitions and surveys you’ve signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information – for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the intended recipient of the petition or survey and/or make them available to the press and public online. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to the intended recipient of the petition or survey as part of the petition or survey. This is standard industry practice in such situations. We will not disclose your e-mail address or phone number in connection with petitions and surveys, without your permission.
COLLECTION AND USE OF CHILDREN’S PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Website is directed to persons 18 years of age or older. The Website is not directed to children under 13 years of age. Unless we have a separate prior agreement with the parent or guardian of a User under 13 years of age, we do not solicit or knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users who are under 13 years of age should ask their parent or legal guardian for permission and assistance if using the Website and should not submit any personal information to the Website.
If you do provide information to us, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older.
When you visit our Website, your browser may save a tiny piece of information (called, a “cookie”) on your computer, mobile phone or other device. This information personalises and improves your experience online, including allowing us to tailor your experience on our Website according to the preferences you have specified or based on your actions on the site.
We may also use other tracking technologies, such as web beacons, pixels, gifs, tags and other technologies that collect information to personalise your experience, facilitate your browsing on the Website and improve the quality of the Website. We may also use these technologies in e-mails (for example, to track open rates for our mailings). This practice helps us determine which web pages and mailings appeal most to our users. We may use the information collected through pixel tags, tracking links and similar technology in combination with your personal information.
The tracking technologies allow us to display targeted content and advertisements to you on our Website or on other digital properties based on your past visits to the Website and non-personal information collected over time, and to determine the effectiveness of and optimise the content and advertisements, analyse your interactions with the content and advertisements you are presented with, and how those interactions relate to your visits to the Website.
IP ADDRESSES, LOG FILES, AND DATA ANALYSIS
As with any website operator, we analyse our Website logs to constantly improve the value of our Website. We may use external services to provide real-time reporting to us and our authorised agents of browser accesses to our Website. This includes page views, unique visitors, repeat visitors, frequency of visits, and peak-volume traffic periods. We do not use this service to gather, request, record, require, collect, or track any user’s personal information.
We log IP addresses, which describe the location of your computer or network on the Internet. This information is helpful for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes.
URLs contained in e-mails may contain an ID that enables us to correctly identify the person who takes an action using a web page on our Website. We sometimes use URLs with unique parameter values to simplify the process of filling out forms. We may occasionally present a shortened URL that references a longer URL which contains an ID. We do this to simplify the display, to prevent links from becoming broken when copied, and to ensure compatibility with e-mail programs which do not handle long URLs. When a shortened URL is displayed in an e-mail, you will see the full URL in the browser’s address bar when you access the page.
You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customise Google Display Network ads by changing the ad settings here. You also can opt-out from being tracked by Google Analytics in the future by downloading and installing Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for your current web browser here.
While we may share and disclose non-personal information, we will not de-aggregate or re-identify non-personal information and will ask our contracting parties to agree to keep the data in its aggregated or de-identified form.
